A bit of NZ

The inspiration for this house was a lodge in New Zealand. The clients had a very clear idea of what they wanted to achieve and the result is stunning

The exterior of this timber clad house is painted dark so that it sits into the site. It is close to the road, so the colour plays an important role by making the house retreat from it.

The clients hadn't considered a dark house before I suggested it, but were easily convinced. I love how the hardwood timber posts play against their dark backdrop

The entry is home to a much loved work of art. I suggested the design for the front door - the holes, which are part of the history of the timber are filled with clear resin. The dark ceiling is the same colour as the exterior

A lovely nook with loved items against a backdrop of charcoal grasspaper. The dresser is from PHI

The airy kitchen is a great place for friends and family to gather.

Dark Emperordor marble in the guest WC

The laundry has great access to the back garden. It has ample bench space too
The boys rooms are identical in form, but very individual in style

Inspiring Flowers

Beautiful floral arrangements can make a room! The ones above would certainly catch your attention. I love bold arrangements that use large leaves and exotic flowers. There are plenty of talented florists in Sydney, where arrangements like these are readily available. If only you could get something like this here on the Central Coast!

This is a Stack Up

Just arrived from Italy - are these metal powdercoated vertical shelves. Capable of holding about 70 books, they are perfect for in tight spaces or just for something a bit different in a large space. They look great on their own, but at only $630 each you could easily group them for impact. We have 1 remaining in stock, but if you are patient we can order more.

New furniture

This may not strictly be a new chair, but we have covered the Ingrid chair from Jardan in a charcoal linen and added a black fringe for a completely different look. The simple shape of this chair lends itself to a host of environments and it is comfortable too. We have teamed it here with a Designers Guild wallpaper and cushions, plus a simple but striking curtain and a quirky mirror just for fun.

Here we have a stunning chair by Melbourne manufacturer Arthur G. This is the Benson chair covered in dyed cow hide. It is a large, masculine chair with strong architectural lines that are directly inspired by more traditional wing chairs. Come in to see it for yourself.

Artist in residence

New to the PHI showroom is a selection of beautiful works by Sydney artist Scott Petrie. His work is recognised internationally, and is admired in both residential and commercial spaces. Scott takes his inspiration from his travels - this piece 'forbidden Love' was inspired by his time spent in Morocco. You can see more of Scott's work at www.scottpetrieart.com or come in to our showroom.
